Cloudland Canyon State Park is located in northwest Georgia, only 30 minutes from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
I have heard great things about Cloudland State Park for a while and was excited to get to hike there. There are 30 miles of hiking trails to experience. SInce I was with the kids and it was a cooler day in January we opted to do two of the shorter trails.
We started with the Overlook trial. It is an out and back trail that is about 1 mile long. It is a semi paved trail that offers a view of part of the canyon from above.
We then decided to hike to two waterfalls, Cherokee and Hemlock Falls. While the hike is not long, 2 miles to see both falls. The hike includes over 600 steps.
Along the way down to the falls, we saw some pretty cool rock formations.
We went to Cherokee Falls first, which is approximately 1/2 mile from the start of the trail.
We then headed back to Hemlock Falls, and even more stairs.
It was a great hike and a great workout. Hopefully I will be able to go back in the future to hike a few more trails and see the canyon when there are leaves on the trees.
Where have you hiked lately?
