On Sunday, the whole family headed to Clarkesville, Georgia for the Chopped Oak Sprint Triathlon. Let’s be honest, the only reason I signed up for this triathlon is because it also had a kids triathlon that even Thing 3, my 3 year old could, could participate in. Although I only signed up for this triathlon because of the boys, I did actually train a good bit for it, which is more than I can say for any other tri I have done this year.
The swim consisted of a 400 yard pool swim where you go out and back in the same lane. Not ideal because the lanes were narrow, but at least they were starting people every 30 minutes. I did pass three different guys on the swim. Sadly, I have no idea what my swim time was because the event didn’t have time by event.
This was the best bike I have had since I moved to Georgia. It was also the ride with the least amount of hills. Yay! It was also one of the longest I have done since we moved, at 17 miles.
The 5K run was probably my weakest event of this triathlon. I struggled. My legs were tired, it got hot, and there was a big hill that we had to run. Lots of people were walking up that hill.
Overall my time was 1:38. I place first in my age group. However, like I mentioned before the main reason I was doing this triathlon was because it was one all three boys can do.
I’m not sure what is up next for me. There is a triathlon in a month that is really close to our house that I am thinking about doing, strictly because it is close. It is in Athens, which means there will be hills. Ahhh! Who know
