While I love and enjoy doing triathlons, I am going to be completely honest and say that losing more weight is my ultimate goal.
Back in 2010, I started running to lose weight. For over two years I ran, a lot and ate healthy, however the nothing changed. My clothes were still tight. I was uncomfortable in my own skin. I was unhappy. My husband would see how hard I was working and was as baffled as I was about why I could not lose any weight.
At the end of 2012, I competed in my first triathlon and loved it. While training for my first triathlon I loved the forced cross training. I loved getting in the pool and swim because I wouldn’t get out all sweaty. My body felt better because I wasn’t putting it through so much pounding as I was when I was just running. I enjoyed the new challenge.
So 2013 was spent competing in triathlons. It was also the first time in 3 years that I was able to lose weight. Last year from March to November I managed to lose 25 pounds. That was a huge feat for me.
Sadly I gained 10 pounds of that back during the move and holidays when I wasn’t exercising. However, I am excited to get back to training because I know that I can lose at least that much, if not more this year. Slow progress is better than no progress.
It is time to get started.
