In 2010 I only competed in 5Ks and 10Ks. In 2011 I moved onto half marathons. In 2012 I focused on half marathons and competed in my first triathlon. Last year I only did triathlons. There is a pattern here. Every year I up my goals a little more.
So you might be asking what is in store for 2014, well, I am going to move from doing only sprint triathlons to doing one or two olympic distance triathlons.
I remember watching the olympic distance athletes compete last year at the Disco Triathlon and thinking that I wanted to try that at least once. It is kinda like I think I want to do a marathon, just once. So I decided that this year was going to be the year.
My A race for the year is going to be an olympic distance race in June. Depending on how that goes, I might try a second olympic distance race in September. We shall see. Currently, I have planned one sprint triathlon about a month before each olympic distance race as way to check myself and see what I might need to focus on that last month. It sounds like a good plan, in theory. Now I just need to come up with a training plan. Wish me luck.
